As a local business owner, I wanted to give back to my community. I have had the pleasure to be a part of this organization since 2008. I have witnessed the tremendous growth of Cabarrus Meal on Wheels to meet the needs of our community. It’s been an honor to serve this organization and work with Kimberly.
Senior citizens have a special place in my heart and I am honored to serve in a capacity that assists them. Cabarrus Meals on Wheels has allowed me to do just that and I am very appreciative of the opportunity.
Since I moved to this country almost 40 years ago, I have received so much from the community. Being involved with Meals on Wheels is my favorite way of paying back. Food and nutrition are essential to life. I cannot think of a better way to help the homebound than to bring them nutritious food provided by Meals on Wheels. I have been a driver for Meals on Wheels for over a decade.
As the Bookkeeper at historic Hopewell Presbyterian Church in my hometown of Huntersville, NC, I also care for my elderly grandmother here. Living in Midland, NC, with my family and our two cats, Elliott and Benevelo, I take immense pride in the impactful work we do at Cabarrus Meals on Wheels. It’s an honor to combat the lack of access to healthy, nutritious meals for the underserved in our community.
As a healthcare worker employed by Atrium Health Cabarrus, the health of our community members is near and dear to my heart. The delivery of a nutritious meal and the brief social interaction that is associated with that delivery make a significant difference in our neighbors’ lives. It helps to keep them healthy and out of the hospital. I am proud to have volunteered as a driver and now as a board member.
Employed at Food Lion, a local grocery retailer with a strong sense of caring for our community members, fighting food insecurity is important to me. Providing nourishment and valued engagement to clients is so fulfilling and takes so little time and effort. The impact made is heart warming to me, and I am proud to be part of this work and the board.
As an educator at Cannon School, I have always felt that both young children and seniors were the most vulnerable in our society. Meals on Wheels makes a difference in our clients’ lives by not only providing a nutritious meal each day but also a connection and conversation with other people which is essential for their wellbeing. I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this organization.
Our board of Directors is a working board comprised of local community leaders and representatives with expertise in varying areas including fundraising, marketing, law, accounting, information technology, health with emphasis on senior care, and overall passion for seniors.
Board members serve a 3-year term, attend regular meetings and special events, serve on two Board Committees, participate in delivering meals, assist in the recruitment of volunteers, and function as goodwill ambassadors and spokespersons for the organization and its programs.
