Do you have a passion for the seniors in our community and want to serve with a team of dedicated individuals across the county to end senior hunger, one meal at a time? Serve on our board and join our non-profit organization that has a history of meeting the nutritional needs of home-bound and disables adults who are unable to prepare meals for themselves and have no one to prepare one hot meal a day for them.
Cabarrus Meals on Wheels is a non-profit and a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization that provides well-balanced, nutritious meals to seniors and individuals with disabilities 5 days a week in Cabarrus County. Cabarrus Meals on Wheels deliveries provide the support and peace of mind that help seniors remain independent in their homes longer, delaying or avoiding alternative living arrangements or nursing care.

Board Member Responsibilities
Serve a 3-year term on the board.
Participate in a formal New Board Member Orientation.
Be familiar with the by-laws.
Take seriously your legal, fiscal, and ethical responsibility as a Board member.
Understand the importance of why you have been asked to serve on the Board, and make your expertise, contacts, and resources known and accessible.
Attend at least 75% of the regular meetings of the Board. Show up to board meetings prepared, having read all pre-meeting materials you may have received. Call or email in advance to let the Chairperson of the Board know if you will not be in attendance.
Stay well-informed about our business by carefully reading minutes of the Board meetings, financial statements, and other materials. Keep your Board “files” up to date by adding new materials as you receive them.
Attend all special activities of the Board, including fundraising events, retreats etc. Every Board Member is expected to work on at least one fundraising event.
Spend at least one day a year at the “person served” level delivering meals.
Serve on two Board Committees.
Make a personal financial contribution to the organization and sell 10 tickets to our soup event, CMOW’s annual fundraiser.
Function as a goodwill ambassador and spokesperson for organization and its programs.
Generate support from friends and other contacts. Expand the organization’s network through friends, relatives and colleagues who can help meet needs in areas such as fundraising, public relations, education, and acquisition of “office supplies” (computers, copier machines, etc.).
Notice community activities and legal/political developments, etc. which may impact on the agency and/or its programs and bring them up at Board meetings.
Assist in the recruitment of board members, volunteers, and committee members to augment the board.
